The museum is home to the history of American signage over the last century. Signs from the late 1800's are hand painted and gold leafed. Milk glass letters illuminate the electric age alongside bare bulbs. The thirty's gave rise to neon signs and a rainbow of new signs. Post war, plastics became quite popular. Carew Tower
Carew Tower is a 49-story, 574ft building completed in 1930 in the heart of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio, overlooking the Ohio River waterfront. It is the second-tallest building in the city and was added to the register of National Historic Landmarks on April 19, 1994. It is named for Joseph T. Carew, proprietor of the Mabley & Carew department store chain, which had previously operated on the site since 1877.
